Clasping her hand he said, ‘You are mine till I am dead’
She looked into his eyes But replied only in sighs.

These words said by her lover When first met under a bower;
Came now to haunt his mind, When all else was left behind.

She knew now he was dying, Stopped short of openly crying.
Wanted to tell, she kept the word, But the thought seemed absurd.

That conveys, his time was over, Over him, she bent a bit lower;
‘I am yours you know it my dear, But you aren’t going anywhere;
Bower stands in our compound, A better witness can’t be found;
Of this promise lived for years, Till...till... words gave in to tears.
